Abstract

The undeniable significance of e-learning in education has led to a massive growth in e-learning most especially during covid-19 pandemic. Thus, evaluating the performance of e-learning-systems with the use of some performance metrics is vital to ensure successful delivery, effective use, efficiency and positive impacts on learners. This study was carried out in selected universities in South-West Nigeria having confirmed the kind of E-Learning system been adopted in all the universities partaking in this study, questionnaires was used to gather information from the respondents. The item in the questionnaire was adapted from various previous success measures and design of the questionnaire was guided by the literature review, previous survey questionnaires used in similar studies, and the research questions. Finally, R statistical tool was used for analysis of the data collected while python programming language was use to predict a model. Findings of the study reveal that students prefer the mix of online and classroom to studying online alone or studying in the classroom alone. In terms of usability, the most used LMS was Google classroom followed by Zoom. A larger percentage of the sample under study (77%) agrees that e-learning is effective in reaching learning goals. However, analysis of data gathered has shown that there are still many issues that need to be closely considered before we can safely state that E-Learning and other related learning methods have contributed to the enhancement of student performance at higher levels of our education system in Nigeria.
